Jessica Hess, Ph.D.

Psychometrician

Jessica is a Psychometrician at Alpine Testing Solutions. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Research from the University of Kansas, with an emphasis on research, evaluation, measurement, and statistics. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bethel University in Minnesota. Prior to joining Alpine, she worked as a Senior Research Analyst at the Kansas State Department of Education, where her work focused primarily on large-scale state assessment research, accountability, and accreditation. Jessica enjoys the challenge of explaining technical concepts and is passionate about making psychometrics more approachable and understandable. She has co-authored book chapters and peer-reviewed articles, specifically in the areas of creativity and educational assessment.

Fun Facts

Jessica lives in Lawrence, Kansas, with her husband and two dogs. She enjoys watching and attending University of Kansas athletics events, specifically volleyball and basketball. Rock Chalk! Jessica and her husband enjoy traveling to national parks to hike. Their current favorites are the Emerald Lake hike in Rocky Mountain National Park and the Beehive hike in Acadia National Park. On her bucket list, Jessica wants to travel to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. Jessica’s go-to fun fact is that she knows how to drive a school bus.
