NCARB Selects Alpine Testing Solutions for ARE® Content Management and Candidate Management Services

Washington, D.C. – The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) selected Alpine Testing Solutions (Alpine) for content management and candidate management services for the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) program.  Alpine will provide support for exam committees, creation and maintenance of all multiple-choice and graphic content, scoring, psychometric and statistical analysis, score reporting, and management of testing eligibilities and all candidate records. NCARB’s selection process began in the fall of 2010 with a request for information and an evaluation of initial responses by prospective vendors followed by a request for proposals in spring 2011. Vendors were evaluated for one or more categories of service: content management, candidate management, and site management.

“NCARB is pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Alpine Testing Solutions,” said NCARB CEO Michael J. Armstrong. “The strength of Alpine’s psychometric team, paired with its technical systems, provides the Council with tremendous resources to leverage as we continue to move the ARE forward and improve our services to both candidates and Member Boards.”

In response to NCARB’s decision, Chad W. Buckendahl, Ph.D., Director of Education Services noted, “Alpine is excited about the opportunity to collaborate with NCARB and its team on the ARE program given its history of quality and innovation in computer based and performance testing. We are committed to helping maintain the integrity of the exam and reputation of the program.” Susan Davis-Becker, Ph.D., Senior Psychometrician added, “We look forward to working with NCARB as it continues to innovate on measurement strategies for achieving their program goals.”

Blair Harris, Alpine’s Director of Technology Services commented, “We appreciate the chance to provide our credential management system CertMetricsTM as the technology foundation for the content and candidate management services. The system is designed to facilitate connections among content, test, and candidate information for flexibility and control of information.” Harris also announced that Sharla Nielson would serve as the Implementation Manager for the development and integration of customized components for the NCARB ARE program.
